Always Waiting for One Text Message: A Short Love Story

For the past six years, I have found myself waiting for one simple thing—a text message or a missed call from the person I love.

Every morning and every night, somewhere in my mind, I wait for that little notification.

When her morning message doesn't come, my whole day somehow feels different. I become distracted, lose focus, and sometimes even get irritated over the smallest things.

Maybe many people who have been in love will understand this feeling.

Sometimes, you don't need a long conversation. You don't need a beautiful gift. You don't even need to see the person.

Sometimes, one simple message is enough to make your entire day better.

When We Were Young

Expressing these feelings to her has never been easy for me.

When our relationship began during our school days, communicating with each other wasn't as easy as it is today. We didn't have smartphones or unlimited internet access. Family restrictions and limited access to phones meant that we couldn't simply call or message each other whenever we wanted.

Most of the time, our communication at school was nothing more than a few exchanged smiles.

But those smiles meant everything.

A simple smile from her could change my entire day.

I would go home carrying that one little moment in my mind, replaying it again and again.

Waiting for Her Call

Weekends were different.

Sometimes, she would call me from her home phone.

I would be waiting for that call, often with far more excitement than I would ever admit.

The conversations were usually short—sometimes only a few minutes.

But those few minutes felt incredibly valuable.

We didn't need hours of conversation.

Just hearing her voice was enough.

And when she couldn't call, even receiving a small text message from her could instantly put a smile on my face.

It was such a simple thing, but at that age, it felt like the whole world.

The Sweet Pain of Waiting

Looking back, those days were filled with a strange mixture of happiness and longing.

We were happy because we had each other.

But we were also constantly waiting.

Waiting for a call.

Waiting for a message.

Waiting for the next opportunity to see each other.

Sometimes, the waiting itself became part of the love story.

Today, technology has made communication incredibly easy. We can call, text, video chat and reach the person we love within seconds.

Yet somehow, I still remember those days when a single message felt like a treasure.

Six Years Later...

Time has passed.

Life has changed.

We've grown, experienced new things and travelled through different moments together.

But one thing hasn't changed as much as I expected.

I still find myself waiting for that one message.

Sometimes it is just:

“Good morning.”

Sometimes:

“What are you doing?”

Sometimes it's nothing more than a missed call.

But behind that tiny notification is something much bigger.

It reminds me that someone is thinking about me.

And perhaps that's what love really is.

It isn't always about grand gestures or dramatic words.

Sometimes, love is simply looking at your phone and quietly hoping to see one particular name appear on the screen.

And even after all these years...

I'm still waiting for that one text message from her!!!
