Mothers of Happiness - A Tribute to Every Mother

First and foremost, Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible mothers who give so much of themselves to their families.

Today, I called my mother in the evening to wish her.

I knew she would be waiting for my call.

I couldn't call her in the morning because of certain circumstances, and honestly, I felt a little guilty about it. When I finally called and wished her in our mother tongue, Tamil, she simply replied with a heartfelt "Thank you."

That one little response made me happy.

There are moments when I miss my mother more than usual.

Today was one of those days.

Being away from my hometown because of work, I often miss the comfort of home. But more than anything, I miss my mother's cooking.

Whenever I return to my hometown, especially after being away for some time, my mother makes special dishes for me. It is not just the food that I miss.

I miss the love behind it.

A mother's cooking somehow tastes different.

Maybe the secret ingredient is love.

Mothers Are Different

Mothers are truly remarkable.

They give their time, energy, care and love without expecting anything in return.

Their happiness often comes from seeing their children happy.

Sometimes they are strict.

Sometimes they scold us.

Sometimes we may even wonder why they are making such a big deal about something.

But as we grow older, we slowly understand.

Behind much of that strictness was concern.

Behind those questions was love.

Behind those sacrifices was a desire to see us safe and successful.

The Silent Sacrifices

Many mothers continue working tirelessly even when life is difficult.

Some manage homes.

Some work outside.

Some do both.

Some face financial struggles, personal difficulties and countless responsibilities, yet somehow find the strength to keep going.

What touches me most is that many mothers don't talk much about their own struggles.

They often hide their tiredness behind a smile because they don't want their family to worry.

They keep moving forward because their family's happiness matters more to them than their own comfort.

That strength is something truly special.

We Owe Them Happiness Too

As children, we depend on our mothers for almost everything.

As we grow older, our responsibilities change.

It becomes our turn to care for them.

We cannot repay everything a mother has done for us. There is no calculation that can measure a mother's love or sacrifice.

But we can give her something she has always wanted:

Our love.

Our time.

Our respect.

Our presence.

And the knowledge that her sacrifices were not in vain.

We should make an effort to keep our mothers happy, especially as they grow older.

Call them.

Visit them.

Listen to them.

Sit with them.

And sometimes, don't wait for a special occasion like Mother's Day.

Just call.

Just say, "Amma, how are you?"

Those few words can mean more than we realise.

Mothers of Happiness

Mothers are often the quiet pillars of a family.

They don't always ask for recognition.

They don't keep a record of what they have done for us.

They simply love.

They simply care.

They simply keep giving.

Today, I may be far away from my hometown, but a part of me will always remain close to my mother, especially around the dining table, waiting for one of those special home-cooked meals.

Happy Mother's Day to every mother.

Thank you for being our strength, our comfort, our home and, most importantly, one of the greatest sources of happiness in our lives.

Love you, Amma.
