Beaches can give us peace of mind when we spend time with our beloved ones. Sometimes, the simple moments we experience there become unforgettable memories that remain in our minds forever.

Paraikal Beach, also known as Kurumpanai Beach, is located near the coastal village of Kurumpanai in Kanyakumari District. Local people commonly use both names for this place. It is one of the hidden beauties of the Kanyakumari coastline.

Sometimes, the most stunning moments of life come unexpectedly. Paraikal Beach is one such place where the sea, rocks, greenery, and peaceful surroundings can create beautiful memories with family and friends.

About Paraikal:

Paraikal is a coastal location in Kanyakumari District, and the area is commonly known as Kurumpanai. Fishing is one of the major occupations of the local community.

The coastal village has a strong local character, with people from different religious communities living here. The area is also known for its churches and beautiful village surroundings.

The attraction of Paraikal Beach is its long stretch of coastline, coconut trees, open spaces, and rocks of different sizes. The sea waves are beautiful to watch as they move between the rocks.

The algae covering some of the rocks can appear greenish and glitter in the sunlight when the waves touch them. The combination of rocks, waves, coconut trees, and greenery gives this hidden beach a special character.

Our Experience In Paraikal:

It was a longtime plan, but unexpectedly, my cousins also decided to join us. That made the trip much more fun and exciting.

It is like adding ingredients to food. Adding ingredients alone does not make the food tasty; the right amount of everything is needed to enjoy the real taste. In the same way, having the right people around you can completely change the experience of a trip.

This was my second trip on my brother's Yamaha R15 V3 and my first trip with my three cousins.

They are some of the closest people to me, always happy, funny, and ready to create something entertaining. Actually, that is the reason this trip has remained in my mind even after so many years.

We had already visited this place before. But for my cousins, it was their first time seeing this hidden beauty. So they were excited to explore the natural scenery and experience the beach.

After a conversation at home, we finally made the decision to leave. The ride started with three bikes.

Getting confused about the routes and trying to find the correct way made the ride even more fun. My cousins were thrilled about discovering the hidden shortcuts leading towards the beach.

There are many beautiful places hidden inside the villages around this part of Kanyakumari. The trees, open lands, village roads, and greenery gave us more memories and a sense of peace.

Finally, we reached the beach.

Many people around the area started watching us because we were making plenty of noise while playing on the beach.

Initially, we were not ready to put our legs into the water. But one of my cousins kept forcing us to join the fun.

Then the game started.

We played with boomerangs, had jumping competitions, ran along the shore, and simply enjoyed the moment. Basically, I am not always the person who is ready for these kinds of activities. But my cousins never gave up.

So, eventually, I joined them for a long time.

That was when the real fun of the trip started.

This time, I missed someone a lot — someone who is very close to my heart.

A place like this becomes even more memorable when you visit it with someone you truly love. The feelings go deeper, and sometimes your own mind starts telling you to listen to your heart.

Meanwhile, my cousins started teasing me and planning their next move.

Boomerang! I was tired and only partially ready.

The game started again with jumping and running along the shore. The funny movements of my cousins made everything even more interesting.

The fact was simple: entertainment was the only motive of everyone on that trip, including me.

Finally, everything came to an end.

It was time to leave the beach and head back home. By then, it was already getting late in the evening, so we took some final selfies before starting our journey back.

Then another little problem happened.

One of my cousin's bikes ran out of petrol.

My brother and cousin sister had already moved ahead, while we had to figure out how to solve the problem. Somehow, we managed to collect petrol in a bottle and sort out the issue before continuing our journey.

Eventually, we reached home safely.

The marvelous moments we experienced at Paraikal Beach stayed in our minds, and we started planning another ride to a different location someday.

How To Reach Paraikal Beach / Kurumpanai Beach:

Paraikal Beach / Kurumpanai Beach can be reached by private vehicle from nearby towns such as Kulachel and Karungal.

Public transportation is also available towards the surrounding areas from major towns such as Nagercoil and Marthandam. For travelers coming from outside Kanyakumari District, Trivandrum International Airport is one of the nearest major airports.

As this is a less commercialized coastal location, asking local people for directions can also be helpful when you are close to the destination.

If you are visiting by bike or car, be careful on the smaller village roads and respect the local community and surroundings.
